From the PA Presidents

Summer 2009

Dear Nursery School Families,

On behalf of the Parents Association, we would like to welcome the new and returning families to the 2009-2010 school year. We are the new co-Presidents of the P A, Bonnie Kirschstein & Janice Easton-Epner. Our sons, Ethan and Giles (respectively), were in the threes program with Mrs. Laska & Mrs. Maloney last year and we are honored to serve as co-Presidents of the Parents Association this year.

The role of the Parents Association is to organize social events throughout the year to foster a strong feeling of community at our school and to raise funds to support the already outstanding programs being run by our excellent staff. We look forward to being involved with all of you to facilitate events like the popular pajama night and spring concert. This year, instead of selling wrapping paper in the fall, we are looking into new opportunities like kosher cheesecakes or flowers and possibly magnetic bumper stickers.

Another role of the Parents Association is to act as a liaison between parents and teachers. We can work together to address any issues you have or assist in communicating information to the student body as a whole. To that end, we are working on expanding the Nursery School's presence on the Riverdale Temple website, with the help of Miriam Hendel, as well as having regularly scheduled Parents Association meetings throughout the year.

At these meetings, we will decide on event specifics and how money will be spent. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. We have several leadership opportunities open that we need some of you fill, but there is space for everyone to participate—the more the better!

We look forward to meeting you all in person at the Parent Orientation meeting on September 9, but please feel free to contact either one of us over the summer with any questions or to discuss how you would like to get involved. If you have any special areas of expertise that could contribute to the programming for the PA, we would love to know about them!

We hope you have a terrific summer,

Janice Easton-Epner
